Sports and Culture

Our children have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of sports and cultural activities

Cultural Activities

A number of activities are organised school-wide throughout the year, these being selected to ensure a variety of experiences are available to the children.

Regular visits by outside performers, ensure students get a taste of the variety of talent that exists both locally and nationally.

We are proud to have available music and dance instructors for private tuition.

In recent years, the school choir and kapa haka group have performed regularly at events. It is common site to see presentations of children's work which has been mounted and displayed around the school as well as in the classrooms.

Sporting Activities

The school encourages students to become involved in sports being offered to them in the school and the wider community.

Most of the team sports for students are organised at school or through community sports clubs. At present rugby, cricket, tennis, netball and other sports are available.

Netball, touch rugby and  hockey are supported within the school. Staff members take on board a liaison role with varying codes and our grounds are used extensively out of school hours for practices and games.

During the school week, sports programmes are also organised for students.

Our school has hosted Triathalons, Tri-Nations games and other events which has us involved with our neigbouring and other rural schools.

It is also an oppurtunity for the Correspondence School to join us in a day of fun and competition.
